as an example of the 'problems' we face, we have flights of He 219 ‘116’ at Eger on 27 October, 1944

-could not have been Werknummer 190116 which was lost in combat on the night of 19-20 May, 1944

-likely instead to have been 211116, found at Fliegerhorst Münster-Handorf in 1945, still with its ‘116’ marking.

but there are other examples which are not so clear cut
