Fw. Georg Fröhlich

Hello everybody,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me in what aircraft Fw. Georg Fröhlich flew. I did know that he fly 19854 (black 6) in 8./JG 1, but after the crash on 22 June 1943 he continued to fly in another aircraft. What plane was this?

Thanks!

Re: Fw. Georg Fröhlich

Thanks for the reply, though his fatal crash in the Fw-190 was in 1944. The interesting article shows a picture of black 6 Bf-109 19854, and 8./JG 1 only flew the Me-109 throughout 1943.. I guess that we will never find out.

Re: Fw. Georg Fröhlich

After his recovery from the crash on 22.6.43 he was moved as Flight Instructor to Germany. He come back to the I./J.G. 1 in autumn of 1944. He died in Fw 190 A-8, 173 928, Black 10.

Hi Kaczmarek, thanks for your reply! That was also what I could find on the web, though it seems that Fröhlich continued to fly for 8./JG 1 in the remaining period of the summer and autumn; on 17 August 1943 he shot down a B-17, and a second B-17 on 14 October 1943. In both cases he was a 8./JG 1 pilot, and not yet a flight instructor. In this period he must have used a Me-109 G-6 with a black number, but I would like to find out what plane this was. Perhaps another Me-109 was painted black 6 for Fröhlich after his crash on 22-6-1943, but I don't know...
