4/KG27 He111P written off 17.8.40.

Hi could anybody kindly help with the following loss.

17.8.40 He111P forced landed due to engine trouble whilst on night mission at Laval from 4/KG27. Apparently 3 NCO's were injured. I have no names and conflicting a/c identities being 1G+LM and 1G+JM.
Would anybody be able to confirm from the NVM?.

Best regs,
Steve.

Thanks very much Chris and Leo.
I have the same information as Leo with three injured, wondered whether the NVM was a little bit more explicit and lists the three guys involved?
Best regs,
Steve.

Re: 4/KG27 He111P written off 17.8.40.

Hi Peter, I've recently obtained the flugbuch of the pilot involved in the accident mentioned in this thread.

He is named as Fw. Lorenz Goll with an umlaut above the O.
According to his fb. he was flying 1G+JM and records the flight time T.off 23.00
on 18.8.40 to 02.55hrs on 19.8.40.
This would be Goll's last flight with KG27.
Best regs,
Steve.

PS. Where did you source your information Peter if you don't mind me asking.

Re: 4/KG27 He111P written off 17.8.40.

Steve,

Many thanks for the corrections - most helpful. My sources were a very poor copy of the NVM, plus the Lw QMG Returns. I now have no recollection of where that incorrect individual code letter originated - sorry. I believe the flight was an armed-reconnaissance over south-west England.
