Information on Oberleutnant Rudolf Reichel

Hi,

Can anyone provide information concerning the career and loss of Oberleutnant Rudolf Reichel?

I have obtained a sterbebild which states tht he was a chef in the bomber squadrin Edelweis.

He was killed in a bombing mission on 30th April 1943 over the East.

Many thanks

Rick

He certainly wasn't a Chef but in charge of groundcrew. I have him being killed on that date but at present, no other details

Re: Information on Oberleutnant Rudolf Reichel

Hello Rick!
Maybe you already found out, since this thread is very old, but i have found out the following.
Obl. Reichel flew on this mission (F) as an observer and between Konotyp and Seredina Buda in Ukraine his plane was shot at by groundfire and Reichel was hit.
The plane must have made it back to the base, since there are in GQM no mention on the plane´s code and Wnr. or the other crew members from this flight.
He is currently burried in the War cemetary in Kiew, Bl. 3, row 49 and grave no. 2435.
Source is
GQM, May 21, 1943, page 10 and No. 159
KG 51, Wolfgang Dierich, Motorbuch Verlag
and finally VDK

Merry Christmas

Christian

Thank you very much Matti, i wonder what kind of (F) flight it was as stated in GQM, with such an aeroplane!

Merry Christmas and thanks for all your help always!
