Re: MACR 1650
My conclusion is that the crew went Missing in service while going from Jorhat to Yangkai.
But they all managed to survive. USAAFdata is showing the crew as dead but should been updated with new information. Crew Survived. According to RSwank, the graves is showing 1966 and 2016. From the MACR Report 1243, p22 it's listed that the crew was flying with 77th Squadron / 78th Squadron, Ferry Command / Air Transport Command. In the end of that report, very blury is says "These men are non fatal casualties" JohanSwe |

Re: MACR 1650
Thanks to both of you. It is the first time I see men listed on the USAAF personnel database who actually survived, but the sources provided by RSwank are clear enough: the crew was posted missing for weeks but managed to walk out of the jungle. They also confirm the date of 16 December 1943.
As for p22 of MACR 1243, I am reading "These men are non-battle casualties", meaning IMHO that they were lost without enenmy action. |
