KG 30 loss on 16-10-1939
The Blitz Book vol.1 shows the names of Hpt.Pohle and two of his crew with one unnamed NCO missing. A German loss information request shows an Uffz. Kurt Naake ( b. 21-7-1913) as killed on the 16-10-1939 and being buried on 20-10-1939 at Portobello Cemetery Edinburgh, is he the missing NCO from Pohles's crew ?

Aircrew of KG51 1940-41
Evening Chris,
I am still very much involved in researching KG51's operations 1940-41. Has you may remember, i purchased from you the KTB from 12.8.40 which as helped enormously, i have other contacts that have supplied much information from the Campaign in Russia 1941. My question to you is based on the publication " Angriff Westland " by Dilip Sarkar. In this book your credited has having provided photographs of Ofw Robert Ciuraj and his crew, also references refer to Ofw Ludwig Piller, Ofw Sigurd Hey also. Do you have any further information regarding these airmen, or perhaps copies of their Flugbuch's, or indeed any KG51 Flugbuch's 1940-41? From the information ive managed to compile on Russian losses, im desparately trying to tie aircrew and a/c to operations earlier in the Med and Balkans, and further into the BoB period. Any further info on KG51 operations, aircrew, a/c. etc would be most helpful. I think you said at the time i got the KTB from you, that it was the only one you had, do you know perhaps another source where i might be able to obtain these records? Best regs, Steve. |
