B-17 crash landing

Hi Gents

Can anyone out there help with the serial number of a B-17 that crash landed at Gatwick on return from a sortie on 2nd Oct 1942.

I understand that the mission was against targets in Northern France and that the aircraft may have been with either the 97BG or 301BG. Don't know if the aircraft was damaged by fighters or Flak.
