P-47 Claims/Losses 30 Jan 44

Uffz Hans Seyringer of 4./JG 27 claimed a P-47 near Borkelt this day only to be shot down by another P-47 8-10 km west of Twente. He apparently was in the same hospital as his victim afterwards. Any ideas who he might have got or who got him?

Chris

P-47D 42-75567 and 1/Lt Ethelbert Amason (374FS/361FG) was shot down by Bf 109s and crashed at Borkelt. However he was unfortunately KIA.

A 335FS/4FG P-47D was also lost that day but reportedly crashed near Haaksbergen. 2/Lt Edwin Mead however survived and became a POW.

Cheers
Stig

There's 21 P-47 encounter reports for that date here: http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.o...r-reports.html. Good luck in sifting out the right one!

Stig
Thanks. Seyringer seemed to think his victim's wingman got him but nothing matches. 335 FS got a number of Bf 109s in the Lingen area....
