Help with Sutterlin - back of photo (He 111 crew)

Good night to all members.

Would need some help to decipher (guess it is Sutterlin) the full name of this He 111 crew...

All I do manage to decipher is "Feindflug" (top right), then the ranks Obergefretier, Uffz, Obgfr, Gefreiter...

Guess that the RAF Intelligence Officers would have as much difficulty as I do in trying to decipher what is written...

Adriano

The first 2 lines read:
Vor den Feindflug
von links nach rechts

As for the names: I'll leave that to our German colleagues.

Re: Help with Sutterlin - back of photo (He 111 crew)

RUDI,

Many thanks....

I was trying to decipher thanks to the Sutterlin Alphabet that another member put here on the Forum some time ago...and is most helpful in some cases. On that particular photograph, it seems that the owner indeed did have a difficult letter (for us) to decipher....

The UFFZ seems to be: F-L-E-Y-Z-?-?-Y-F-F-E

Am trying letter by letter, but it may have some kind of variation as we all did our own variations when writting....and the poor airmen did not have time to add correct time (Date), local or place (for security reasons I guess) and unit (Staffeln or KG). So....without the werknummer or codes (not visible) no clues...

Thanks for trying...and for the help with the first 2 lines!

A.

No, The last "name" that you see is their function on board. I think I can read from top to bottom:
Funker
Flugzeugfhr
Bordmonteur
Bordschutze

Re: Help with Sutterlin - back of photo (He 111 crew)

RUDI,

My trial to translate seems childish indeed....you certainly discovered indeed their functions rather than their Family names! Lol!....I had to laugh of myself.....what a poor performance trying to match word by word with the Syllabus another member posted here some time ago! Maybe in a near futur there will be on Google or other facility a "Translator"...so one do photograph the back of the photo and the translation do appear!

Now you deciphered their functions, I shall try again to find at least one name who can give me a clue to the crew and unit.

AGAIN, my GRATITUDE for the "light" you gave me...

Adriano

RASMUSSEN,

Uouu! My GRATITUDE for that....

It seems we do have a probable candidate:

Obergefreiter Oskar SEIDEL (born 8th May 1921), wounded on a Landeunfall (crash landing accident) on Braunschweig-Waggum on the 8th March 1943..

He was a member of 12./KG 27...which flew He 111 H bombers by that time...so a great chance of match...

MATTI (or another Member), would you by chance do have more details about this particular crash?

Adriano
