He 111 at the time I guess?

PS: details probably in Walther Waiss' history of KG 27, volume 1.

This is how I have this incident:

May 14: 2./KG27 Heinkel He111P. Returned damaged in attacks by Moranes of GC III/2 south of Namur, 4.30 p.m. BM Uffz Erich Mamsch killed, BF Gefr Alexander Hüttl slightly wounded, rest of crew unhurt. Aircraft 5% damaged but repairable.

Cheers, Pieter

Hi All

Cannot help but wonder why Waiss spelled the family name Marnisch while everyone else calls him Mansch or Mamsch.

Looking at Luc's attachment, the name cannot be Mansch. The way it was written in that document certainly indicates either Marnsch or Mamsch to me.

Three offers so far. Anyone who can say with certainty what his real name was?

I read it as Mamsch with an "m" — on the filecard compare it with the m in "Kampfgeschwader" or the ones in "Tirlemont" or "Oberbürgermstr.", then with the "n" in "Brüssel-Löwen" or in "Arndstadt".

Both Mamsch and Mansch are real names, the latter somewhat more common according to searches here: https://www.kartezumnamen.eu

I have taken the name as Mamsch both from the NVM and EM-Verzeichnis.
