Joachim WANK JGr.Ost 18.4.1944

Hello,

18.4.1944 died at Neiss pilot 4./JGr. Ost Joachim WANK.

He was flying a Bf 109 G-6 W.Nr.19869

Please, does anyone know the details?

18/04/1944; 4./JGr. Ost; Neisse (6 km östl.); Zusammenstoß in der Luft, Absturz (15:07); Bf 109 G-2; W.Nr. 10587; ws 7 +; 100%; Fw. Hinz, Alfred gef.

Note that some of the details of this incident were previously given on this site by Matti Salonen on 15-May-12, but without the full details of the Bf 109G-2 loss. No idea if that was because that particular machine was not the subject of the inquiry or the full information was not there at the time. Either way, this thread completes the picture. Thx to you, and Matti.

please does anyone have information on which training unit was Lt.Wank before coming to JGr.Ost? Is the number of his Erkennungsmarke known?
