Oberleutnant Freymann II./NJG 1

Hello,

Does anyone have more information on this airman and his eventual fate?
He had to take three times to his parachute, in the crews of Hauptmann Telge (killed, 5./NJG 1), Leutnant Flegel (killed, 6./NJG 1) and Hauptmann Hager (survived, 6./NJG 1).

He also flew with Leutnant Henseler (4./NJG 1).

Kind regards,

Timon

Re: Oberleutnant Freymann II./NJG 1

Hello,

Must check my files but I faintly remember that Freymann was Nachrichtenoffizier (signals officer) of the II./NJG 1 and in that function, it is not unusual that he flew nightfighter missions as Bordfunker, operating the radio and radar equipment.

From other NO's it is known that they flew missions too.

Best regards, Marcel

Re: Oberleutnant Freymann II./NJG 1

Hi

Bernd Barbas who is writing a book about Schnaufer e.mailed me to say that Freymann was born on 16.05.1919 in Schivelbein/Pommern and died in March 2005.

He was with Schnaufer for his 20th ans 21st "kills"

Kind Regards

Johannes

Re: Oberleutnant Freymann II./NJG 1

Thanks for the answers. It is interesting to see he flew with so many different crews, which is not common in the Nachtjagd...

Actually there is quite something known about this man. So his first name is Heinz.
I will notify the authors of the Luftwaffe Officer Career Summaries they have a dual entry.

Kind regards,

Timon
