Re: B- 24 Consolidated Liberator data plate SOLAR
The serial #12812 is the sequential number for this particular part. The preceding part would have been #12811. It has nothing to do with an aircraft number.
The contact # indicates the contract Solar had with the Air Corps/Force to manufacture this particular part. And DWG is the drawing number or blue print for this particular part. |

The contract number is mention here:
https://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/documen..._Liberator.pdf "Ordered to contract No.W535 AC-21216 -24 from the Ford Motor Company at its Willow Run factory in Detroit, Michigan. The order was for 4,100 aircraft of which 3,183 were completed (1,250 of them as the 'L' model) before production ceased in August 1945 following the Japanese surrender. " Here is a Solar ad. http://legendsintheirowntime.com/LiT..._ad_p024_W.png |

FYI - While the exhaust manifold was designed and built by Solar Aircraft Company in San Diego, CA., your example was actually built by Edward G. Budd manufacturing in Philadelphia, PA..
