Russian Northern Fleet Aviation rank badges

Please - what 1941 rank is this? Two thick gold, one thin gold, gold star.

It's quoted as Major General. I dispute this.

Tim

Looking through the photos it looks as though Maj Gen had one thick, one thin gold bar with a star over.

One of the photos from the IWM.

I think the two thin bars with star above was the Commissar.

regards

Mark

Re: Russian Northern Fleet Aviation rank badges

Thank you both. Especially Maxim - a rare poster?

It may seem a little petty, but its all part of history, so may I persevere?

1. We have the 3 chaps in photo 1. All two broad & one thin ring? I have these quoted as Captain.

2. In photo 2 we have the Aide with three broad rings - Major?

3. And same photo - the General with one broader broad ring & one thin.

So far so good? What would a Colonel be?
