Fw. Walter Nuhn 8./JG 54
I looked at "Kracker" for this pilot but there is nothing there on him and outside of Prien's JFV 6/II there is no further mention of him in III/JG 54. So far the only thing listed is the following.
Fw. Walter Nuhn 8./JG 54 30 Jun 1941 DB-3 (1) 15:05 Dünaburg 21 Jul 1941 DB-3 (2) 19:01 11 Sep 1941 Pe-2 (3) 12:00 III/JG 54 was stationed at Dno covering the Demyansk - Staraya Russa region on the 11 Sep 41. This was possibly the Pe-2 flown by Podpolkovnik Zabelin commander of the 260 BAP (6 SAD) who made an emergency landing in the area of Lake Vel'e with a dead air gunner. After this point there is no mention of Nuhn. |

Hi
The Pe-2 was shot down from Nuhn over the place Kotly. On the 15. September 1941 he came to the JFS 4 at Fürth. Greetings Christian Last edited by christian; 27th November 2015 at 19:00. |

Re: Fw. Walter Nuhn 8./JG 54
Hello Christian,
In Prien's JFV 6/II it lists Nuhn's victory over the Pe-2 on the 11 Sep 1941. On that date III/JG 54 was stationed at Dno which is in the sector of Staraya Russa and Demyansk. This would have been to far for a mission that would have taken him nearly to the Gulf of Finland at Kotly. The transfer to JFS 4 at Füth is good to know about what happen to him. |

Re: Fw. Walter Nuhn 8./JG 54
Hello
Parts of the III./JG 54 fly in the morning from Kotly to Dno and have missions around Staraya Russa and Demjansk, on the evening they returned to Kotly. On the 13. September 1943 the III./JG 54 was transfer to Siwerskaja. Nuhn was on the end of the war Leutnant and member of the JG 108. Christian |

Re: Fw. Walter Nuhn 8./JG 54
Okay, I get what your saying now. Part of them were stationed at Kotly and flew into Dno for the day and then returned to Kotly later. Seems like a lot of wear on the engine for a day or two transfer.

Re: Fw. Walter Nuhn 8./JG 54
Hi
Most of the planes stand still on the places with enginge-trouble and technical failures. So the 8.Staffel had in September 1941 most only 4 planes for missions! On the 16. September only two planes was clear!! Christian |
