Part from a US bomber?

I need your help with this piece. I was told it came from a shot down US "fortress" /either B-17, or B-24/. The story is, that it is a hand crank dynamo, used to produce electricity for starting the engines. One thing for sure, it really produces electricity, it works. So, can you please help me, what is this thing? Is it really a WW2 aircraft part? Thanks!

Good mornung Theodor !

Neet and superb photos !!!!!.

Is there any suggestion where this aircraft came down ?. If a date of the incident would be available, the case could be cleared soon.

All the best !

Re: Part from a US bomber?

Thank you Horst! Unfortunately there are no details at all. It is in Bulgaria. The full story is: I got it from a fellow, who had it for quite many years. And he had got it from some guy, who was in the Air Force during the WW2 and picked it from the wreck of a US bomber /can be B-17 or B-24/, that was shot down here in Bulgaria. This is all known and all that can be found about its past. I am not even sure, whether is comes really from a WW2 aircraft?
