Anybody know where
Heinkel HE 111 (T5+UH) of Aufklärungsstafel 1. (F)/AGr ObdL on the 19th January 1940 was based? Was it Stavanger - Sola? |

Re: Lt Johann Fokuhl 19/1/40
Probably forward based from Berlin. Would be odd operating out of a Norwegian base when the Germans didn't invade until April 1940!

Re: Lt Johann Fokuhl 19/1/40
Thanks Chris, It was unclear as there was a reference to Germany, then a gap before Norway.
To Check Fokuhl was a Lt dR ? |

Re: Lt Johann Fokuhl 19/1/40
The VDK site has a record which implies that Johann Fokuhl is buried at Cannock, http://www.volksbund.de/graebersuche...e2a7b5b6786a9e
There is no grave reference so the implication is that he is presumably buried as an Unknown at Cannock. However, this is misleading there are no Unknown burials which fit the date range. The nearest unknown burials are all from the 2nd July 1940, relocated from Greenock Cemetery and were victims of the Arandora Star sinking. So it appears that, as mentioned previously in the thread, both Schäfer and Fokuhl were not found, and there is an error in the VDK records. |
