Fw 190 D-13 "Yellow 10" - some doubts with details

Gentlemen!

While looking for some informations for more than my modelling project I found some doubts.
What was the main fuel tank cover installed on D-13 W.Nr. 836017 - was it all metal 190.101.36 type cover or wooden one 190.102.52?
The same with fuselage acces door - metal 190.125.03 or wooden Ersatzteil 190.125.29?
Was the 12'th fuselage frame sealed with fabric on Yellow 10 originally?
Where was the medi-kit located? Under the Gepäckraumklappe (sorry don't know how to call it in english)?
What was the tail wheel, radio and under fuselage access door? Metal or wooden ones?

cheers
Kuba

Kuba, Answers to some of your questions can be found in the book "Yellow 10, The story of the ultra-rare Fw 190 D-13" written by Jerry Crandall and available from Eagle-Editions Ltd. ISBN # 0-9660706-3-1. An indespensible book for anyone building a model of the D-13, Yellow 10. Also has great info on D-11 and D-9 series Focke Wulf's as well.

Re: Fw 190 D-13 "Yellow 10" - some doubts with details

Whern the aircraft was restored recently the main fuel tank cover skinning was replaced with metal, so I would expect the original skinning was metal as well. All of the other access panels you mention would appear to have been missing from the aircraft in 1960. Also, not sure which frame was the 12th, but the pictures taken in 1960 do not appear to have any taped seams on the fuselage (though there is a possibility between the fuselage and front of the fuselage "plug".) Remember that the aircraft by that time was pretty derelict. The only thing I would add is that there is no tail wheel doors on a Fw 190.I would second the recommendation that you get Eagle Files #2, "Yellow 10", by Jerry Crandall, an excellent book (though by no means totally exhaustive) on this interesting aircraft. Several other books also have detailed walkaround pictures of this aircraft, and LEMB has (or had) pictures taken during the restoration.Paul

Paul, by tailwheel access door I beleive our friend Kuba ment the triangular access door on the port side of the rudder, this is opened to access and perform maintenance on the tailwheel assembly.

Ohhhhhh
That was missing in 1960 as well. The door in the restoration would appear to be metal.

Re: Fw 190 D-13 "Yellow 10" - some doubts with details

Kevin, Paul - thank you for your replies.
I know the "yellow 10" book, it's one of my favourite!
There I found in text, that main fuel tank cover was made of wood as well as the tail wheel leg access door.
But where are my doubts from?
On photos, which show Yellow 10 in derelict state the tail wheel access door is missing. The underbelly covers, I mean main fuel cover and rear MW / fuel tank rounded hatch are invisible. Were they still present during first restoration? What about radio and fuselage access panel?

During recent restoration the metal fuel tank cover was installed...

I know the photos from LEMB, I also get the "modellers eye" series book about Doras - well still no answer to my questions.

I wonder if somebody know, what kind of discussed elements were installed in similar Weserflug built machines, I mean late D-9's?

all the best
Kuba
