Re: Ju 88 shot down 18 Jan 1942 Mediterranean
Page 433 of the first volume of Mediterranean Air War:
"Over convoy Boxer in the afternoon Plt Off Gunnis of 252 Squadron claimed a Ju 88 shot down and two unidentified types as probables. The latter would appear to have been torpedo-carrying S.79s of 284a Squadriglia AS, one of which crashed near Nofilia with the loss of the crew, while all aboard Cap Putti's aircraft were wounded." "272 Sqn - Sgt France - Beaufighter Ic 'F' - Ju 88 damaged - over convoy 252 Sqn - Plt Off H.H.K. Gunnis - Beaufighter Ic T4834 'F' - Ju 88 - 2 u/i e/a probables - over convoy Boxer; 1420-1800" "284a Sq/131o Gr AS - S.79 MM 24083, crashed near Nofilia, Cap Elio Bellocchi and crew KiA 284a Sq/131o Gr AS - S.79, Cap Carlo Putti and crew WiA" I hope that the Italian researchers on this forum may have the names of the other crew members. Andy, may I ask for your e-mail address? Regards, Dan
