Nightfighter pilot Feldwebel Karl Leopold of 1./NJG 1?

Hello

Does anyone have any information about p[font=&quot]ilot Feldwebel Karl Leopold, of 1./NJG 1, who flew a Messerschmitt Bf 110 nightfighter from Gilze-Rijen airfield, Holland? Did he survive the war?

With thanks.

Hi,

When coming back from a mission during the night of 18/19.05.1943 he collided with the a/c of Lt. Alfred Meinke, 2600 m at 00:16 hrs. He and his RO Uffz. Kurt Müller were KIA in the ensueing crash. They were flying the Bf 110G-4,G9+AH, Werkenr. 6104. All this can be found in Michael Balss book about the Losses in the Deutsche Nachtjagd, Personalverluste. Hope this helps.
Kind regards,

Dirk

Both a/c crashed, only one crewmember (BF) baled out and survived.

Hello Snautzer,

to the other plane:
Bf 110 G-4 WNr. 5372 2./NJG 1 G9+FK 100%.
Pilot Lt Alfred Meinke parachuted, KIA
ROp Uffz Kurt Huhn parachuted, safe.
The aircraft lost the left wing and crashed at Hulten north of Gilze-Rijen.
