Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source

Many thanks Carl, for your kind help. Beyond the reasons for putting those brand new planes in storage, I still wonder where the pics were taken. Could it be Erfurt Nord ?

Thanks again
Marc

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source

Marc-André

IMHO it would be somewhat strange to ferry an aircraft intended for storage to an operational Luftwaffe airfield with no connection to Erla. Especially if the plane wasn't accepted by BAL or if I had no fuel at all.

I think, we should have a closer look on the airfields, which Erla used for final-manufacure or for acceptance flights in 1945. Again: Rasmussen may help us.

Cheers

Carl

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source

An possibility could be Delitzsch. I know some a/c from the 152xxx-batch were ferried from there and they had 2 "Bogenbinderhallen" (maybe this the hangars on the picture but I don't know building plans from there).

Many thanks, Jörg. Until proven otherwise, I'll go with this tentative location.

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source

A great new Bf 109 G-6 shot, totally unknown...

http://www.wranglerforum.com/f274/cl...26497-582.html post #17448

IMHO, a WNF built Bf 109 G-6 in the W.Nr. 510xxx 511xxx batch. Tactical marking is "Weisse 5?". Any ideas about unit and location, bar the - obvious - fact this airfield was overrun in Germany, Spring 1945 ?

Thanks in advance
Marc

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source

Isn't it funny to see the guys at the Wrangler forum drooling allover the jeep and its exhaust stack and completely ignoring the Messerschmitt :-)
What gold is to some is worthless to others depending your filter and focus
Good catch Marc!

What is a "Wrangler"? I just see that a stupid guy was parking a damn car in front of that nice Messerschmitt before taking the picture. ;-)

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source

Most correct, Chris !

We have a here a sight form Havlíčkův Brod - Deutsch Brod, taken in Summer 1945. The foremost 109 is Bf 109 G-14 W.Nr. 51. ... "Gelbe 11", 3./JG 52, just behind and ajar, we have
Bf 109 G-10 W.Nr. 612 762 "Weisse 24", Jasta 5 der ROA. There are another 13 photos from this same constellation. Check them out here:
