Do 18 collision on 12 October 1942

On 12 October 1942 two Do 18 of Fl.Waffenschule(See) Parow (Do 18 D-2 WNr 726 SD+IK and Do 18 H WNr 788 PF+AV) were lost in a collision.

I would like to have more details about this: crew fate and names if available, location of the incident, etc... Especially interested if it was an air collision or not.

Thanks in advance

Laurent

Thanks Matti for the quick answer !

I guess Arcona in your replay is Arkona, on the island of Rügen in the Baltic. I suspect from the names of a list of German ships that is was written with a c in the past (at least up to 1945) and is written with a k now.

Do you have details if the aircraft crashed at land or in the sea ? Latter could be possible as one crew was missing.

Re: Do 18 collision on 12 October 1942

Right. On the north tip of Rügen.
I have no exact info, but as you say, crash in the sea is most probable because of a missing crew member.
