Sonderstaffel GS1 Me 110 losse over Ösel (Saaremaa) 1941?
Hallo!
I though I had this info already somewhere but my searches have been in vain. Sonderstaffel GS1 towed Me 321s to Ösel (Saaremaa) few times during the Beowulf II operation Fall 1941. It seems GS1 suffered two Me 110 losses 27 September 1941 over Saaremaa. Are the aircraft details available? Subtype, codes, WNr? Are there other GS1 Me 110 losses known over Russia 1941? Luftwaffe Verband Journal Number 32 from October 2002 had an article of the Saaremaa Me 321 journey, but at least in my photocopy the photos are not too clear. Are there any other publications where I could find GS1 Me 110 tug photos? Or unpublished photos? Cheers, Kari |

Re: Sonderstaffel GS1 Me 110 losse over Ösel (Saaremaa) 1941?
Hello!
The Mankau/Petrick Bf 110 /Me 210 / 410 book puts both of the losses into Bf 110 C-7 bracket WNr 3618 - 3652 manufactured by Miag. These were the last C models production ending September 1941. This might explain why there was C model glider tugs when the first six (and probably majority) of modified tugs were E models. Cheers, Kari |
