Re: Heinkel 111 casualty 19.9.43 9/KG4.
Thank you for the clarification Matti. And Steve, not done yet - it still looks like some clerk was having a bad day sorting out paperwork for KG 4 because on 17-9 there is another 'unattached' loss. (And I still haven't found the name Goller in my He111 file!)
He 111H-, , n.n., , III., 7., KG 4, , , , , 17-Sep-43, Enemy fighters. Bf WIA., , Lfl.6/Eins.Osten, Gen.Qu.6.Abt. (mfm #12)-Vol.23, , Jelnja, b, F, Bf Uffz. Heinz Rudolf, , |

Re: Heinkel 111 casualty 19.9.43 9/KG4.
Thanks again Matti - that would appear to resolve the several KG 4 incomplete losses for 17. & 19-Sep-43!

Re: Heinkel 111 casualty 19.9.43 9/KG4.
Thanks Jim
With your last loss stated, I think I now have a better theory of what happened. On the 17th there was a strafing attack on Jelnja with a few damaged aircraft and wounded staff On the 19th there was a mission in rather bad weather, and one aircraft hit some trees, while two others collided while climbing. The GQM report was probably a bit garbled while the NVM (mostly as usual) tried to correct the errors. Cheers Stig |
