He 115 W.Nr. Question

Here's another question having to do with entries on a data plate.

Does Werk Nr. 1868 connect with a He 115 airframe number? The date on the plate indicates 1939 construction by Land und See.

Have a good day,
Steve

Re: He 115 W.Nr. Question

W.Nr. 1868 was a He 115B built by Ernst Heinkel Flugzeugwerke GmbH, Rostock in 1939.

Re: He 115 W.Nr. Question

Thank you gentlemen for your help. Is the wartime fate of this airplane known?

Re: He 115 W.Nr. Question

The faith of this aircraft is somewhat troublesome. I have the following:
18.04.40 He 115B W.Nr. 1868 M2+BH of 1./106. Crashed into mountain Storsalen at Rissa east of Örlandet due to iceing while on return from an ops to Narvik. Also seen reported as shot down by 3 Lockheed Hudsons of No. 233 Sq. RAF. The real problem araise when on 07.02.1944 this W.Nr. was reported as allocated to 1./406 in Norway as Staffelreserve.
I believe the latter must be a typo error in the German records.
