Hello Ed,

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=140844435949
Thank you for posting this link.
I wonder who the man in the photo was ?
The photo shows the graves of one of 18 Squadron's two losses on the 30/10/1939.
Blenheim I, L1415
F/O D. F. Elliot (Pilot); Sgt K. B. Crew & AC1 J. A. Garrick (note spelling).
S/d by Hptm Werner Mólders of III./JG53 and crashed between Niederemmel & Wehlen.
The 2nd Blenheim was L6694 who's crew were F/L A. A. Dilnot (Pilot); Sgt E. H. Crellin & AC1 J. S. Burrows.

Hi Ed,

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=140843751572
Bf 109 G-5 W.Nr. unknown "Weisse 218", Erg. JG ?, Germany, 1943. Note the faired over flare dispenser at the base of the windscreen, the dessicant capsule built in the windshield and the long radio antenna. A very interesting bird.

Thanks Ed!
Marc

Actually it looks like an early G model (G-2 or G-4): no MG 131 bulges and no dessicant capsules in lateral and upper panels. The dessicant capsule in the windshield frontal panel was present in all G models (to absorb moisture between the windshield and the internal armored glass).

Re: Photos 9-6-12

Hi Guys, Hi Marc and Ivan,

Well we got another picture around June 2011!
I saw that White(?) 218 without reacting but the scratches on cowling looking like an elephant on a trunk did remind me the picture in attachment...
... And a thread about what I was considering as three little cartoon figures (you know; that running dwarf bringing a little figure on a plate to a bigger character...) under the G-6 MG 131 bulges!
I don't want to restart it!

If I agree with Ivan to say it's not a Bf 109 G-5, I do consider it's not a G-2 neither a G-4 but a G-6, at least.
I kept rough JG 52-seller-caption-bla-bla since this picture is not yet stored in my "normal" files.
Of course the picture doesn't show a JG 52 plane, not even an Erg. Unit Marc, better a JG 1xx one.

Note the date on picture I post: November 1944.

Cheers, Franck.

Wow Franck,

Thanks for your memory and that shot. It settles all the open issues. I swear I never will anymore take the risk of "identifying" a G-5;-))

Re: Photos 9-6-12

Yep, on a second thought, G-6 could not be ruled out, as the bulge starts a little farther that it's shown on the picture. That 2nd photo comfirms it
