Re: Two probably unknown Ju88 losses (Lfl.1?) Aug.42
Again about the loss in the evening 3.Aug.42 (Ju88 made a crash landing "bei Wistina (südl.Glinki)" somewhere on the south coast of Finnish Gulf. 1 crewman was badly wounded, 3 - slightly wounded).
The event in question was reported by Kriegsmarine, by Soviet pilots, by coastal observation posts and by the navy. So it seems the event had happened really. It is strange if Luftwaffe hadn't reported about it - even to WASt (about badly wounded airman). Best regards, Andrey |

Re: Two probably unknown Ju88 losses (Lfl.1?) Aug.42
Almost certainly the plane in question (3.Aug.42) is Ju88A-4 WNr 4064 from 7./KG1 downed near Gorki. Gorki is the village between Wistino and Glinki (NO Ust-Luga).

Re: Two probably unknown Ju88 losses (Lfl.1?) Aug.42
Andrey
Can I please ask you to be more specific and perhaps give a place I can find at Google Maps? To me Gorki is Gorkij (a well known place which has changed name now), but that is not what you mean of course. Unfortunately I have great difficulty with many of these smaller places/villages etc in Russia (Soviet Union) Sorry about that.... Cheers Stig |

Re: Two probably unknown Ju88 losses (Lfl.1?) Aug.42
Hello Stig,
Gorky/Gorkij (Nizhny Novgorod now) is my hometown Gorki in question: https://www.google.com/maps/@59.8016...5901,13z?hl=en "Gorki" means (roughly) "Hills" in English - the name of many villages in Russia. Cheers, Andrey |

Re: Two probably unknown Ju88 losses (Lfl.1?) Aug.42
Ha, ha Andrey, what a co-incidence
Thanks for showing me. Can't understand how you can get this Gorki to show up on Google Maps. When I list Gorki myself, all I get is four places in Poland plus Gorkistrasse in Berlin! Thanks for showing me the exact place. Much appreciated Cheers Stig |
