Re: Do 217 M-1. 6N + ED. Stab III/KG 100

Dan,

I can't find that in my data on KG 100 operations over Normandy. I hae only two aircraft from Stab III./KG 100 lost over Normandy:

Do 217K-3 WkNr 4742 6N+OR lost 8 June
Do 217K-3 WkNr 4718 6N+DT lost 4 July

I don't have losses on 6 August. I do have a loss of Do 217M-11 WkNr 3057 (6N+MS) from 7./KG 100 on 4 August. I also have two Do 217 aircraft shot down on the night of 8/9 August. One of these was from 7./KG 100 (other specifics unknown) commanded by Erich Scheler.

Re: Do 217 M-1. 6N + ED. Stab III/KG 100

Salut Daniel,

Désolé, mais je n'avais pas cette perte en tête lors de notre conversation téléphonique d'avant-hier.

I have a claim from the same 488 (NZ) Sqdn Mosquito (F/Sgt. McLean and F/O B.C. Grant) , during the night 5/6 August 1944, concerning a Do 217 destroyed and an other Do 217 damaged. Place of the crash of the destroyed Do 217 : 120 miles from St. Malo and ... 10 miles West of Angers. But you can be sure : none Do 217 crashed 10 miles West of Angers this night !

Mission of this Mosquito : it patrolled the gulf of St. Malo. Time of the crash of the 1st Do 217 : about midnight.

Hope this helps

Amicalement

Pierre
