Looking for info on He111 W. Nr. 2422 & 1553 - Russian Losses

Hey guys,

Wrecks were recently uncovered.

2422 was found around St. Petersburg.

The other one I am not sure of...

Anyone have any info?

TIA

Re: Looking for info on He111 W. Nr. 2422 & 1553 - Russian Losses

He 111P WNr. 1553 lost by FFS B 15 over France on 3.01.44
He 111H WNr. 2422 lost by KGr 100 at Faßberg 3.10.41

You see, these numbers have no correlation to Russia.

Re: Looking for info on He111 W. Nr. 2422 & 1553 - Russian Losses

......mmmmmmmmmmmmm...

that does not make sense...

I have photos of the wreck sites...and my friend who dug them up is in Russia.

At the wreck site of 2422, there is a main data plate that has that number...but there is another part with the hand-written number, "5358".

It is possible that the other parts were switched between aircraft...which is why 2 different numbers are found.

That is the same with 1553. There is another number indicating "513"

Does "5358"or "513" correlate to any He111 werk?
