Scutts can't have used the Nowarra book since I can't see him mentioning the Jan 5th raid at all.

I have : II/KG 40 : 05.01.1944 : 1destroyed + 2 damaged by bombs III/KG 40 : 31.12.1943 : 6 destroyed + 3 damaged by bombs 05.01.1944 : 2 destroyed by bombs Regards Marc |

Complement : the total losses by bombs of the 2 raids make effectively 8 destroyed + 3 damaged
I think that after such heavy losses and damages a report has certainly been sent. Maybe some ULTRA ??? BR Marc |

"Maybe some ULTRA ???"Practically nothing was coming from the Luftwaffe in France in early 1944. It seems as if everyone was using landlines to communicate. You could try National Archives files HW13/37 and /38 which report on German bombing and reconnaissance operations day-by-day, using a combination of Ultra and Y-Service information. I don't have either one but the first includes December 1943 and the second January 1944. |
