This is possiby Erla built Bf 109 G-14 W.Nr. 46x xxx "Gelbe 12", unit unknown, captured at Kassel-Rothwesten on 21 April 1945. As illustrated by those other - fortunately - much sharper photos, "Gelbe 12" was fully repainted in olive drab sometimes during Summer 1945: https://www.flickr.com/photos/280920...7631640854399/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/280920...7631640854399/ Cheers Marc |

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
BTW, is there any story or knowledge about this Bf 109 in the Stalingrad rubble (post #3274)? This plane was photographed quite often and is has obviously been repainted by its captors. I am also not sure it ended up in its resting place "naturally" so it might have been placed there intentionally - but why? For some photo op? As a monument of some kind?

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Not captured Rudi
This is a French built Ju 188E-2 No 3 and photographed sometime in between its first flight 26 Feb 1946 and its passing to 10S on 28 Oct 1946. Oddly enough it was not accepted by the French Navy until 25 Oct. Cheers Stig |
