Another Graf 190?
Have just purchased the Kagero Fw190 Vol 2 and on page 48 there can be found another, new to me, Graf Fw190. Definately not the much talked about
2594 although it is identical in its markings, appears to have an all yellow cowl and looks like an A-4?. After scanning and reviewing the tail , the W.Nr. is 3 digits and appears to be 620. What further light can be shed on this aircraft, comments are most welcome. Regards Wayne |

Re: Another Graf 190?
There is a photo of Graf's Fw 190 A-4 in Die Flugzeugführer-Ausbildung der Deutschen Luftwaffe 1935-1945 Band II (by Sven Carlsen & Michael Meyer; VDM Heinz Nickel Verlag, Zweibrücken 2000) on page 205.
Here's the caption: "280/281 Das Kommandeursflugzeug von Obstl. Graf, Stab JGr Ost, in Toulouse im März 1943. Die Fw 190 A-4, BK+WH (WNr. 634), wurde später an die 1./JGr Ost abgegeben. Am 17. August 1943 ging das Flugzeug (ws. 2) bei Marseille nach einem Angriff auf amerikanische B-17 verloren. Uffz. Heimberger wurde dabei verletzt." The photo shows the left side of WNr. 634. It has an all-yellow cowling with red tulips, no MG FF cannon, no extra intakes, no cooling "gills" visible - so it must have been a late A-4. The (left side of the) a/c is heavily mottled. Is this the same photo? Regards Primoz |
