Hi Ed,

I have no dispute with the Andrew Arthy article. In the second half of July 1943, 7./ZG 1 was ordered to Brest/Süd to fly fighter patrols over the Bay of Biscay after re-equipping with Me 410's in Germany (probably at Wittmundhafen or Hildesheim), but it was recalled back to the Reich after less than a month in France to rejoin the rest of III./ZG 1 which was arriving from Sicily and Italy at that time. It reported no combat losses while at Brest/Süd but one Me 410 A-1 was damaged in a taxying mishap there on 26 July.

Hi Larry,

Thank and i saw an article also mentioning them in Brest but i came across the Bordeaux-Merignac historical society and on their site they again mention Me 410 so honestly i am completely at lost regarding this and people are starting to be mad about me, so i think i should not ask anything more about this here.

People are becoming exasperated because they freely offered you information which you appear not to trust and instead raise further questions. Nobody here is claiming to be the ultimate authority on anything but please consider that some of them might be the best authorities available, having devoted decades to researches in areas where they know that the information is - and will remain - fragmentary. The books that have been suggested to you are by serious people who have done huge amounts of original work on the Luftwaffe and are all well worth reading if you are genuinely interested in the subjects they cover.

Hi Nick,

English is not my native language so maybe that doesn't help and i am trying my best to explain what i have in mind.

Also i went trough a lot of books and those books are suppose to be very relevant and some have evident contradictions over KG 40 so that the reason i think that if no one who was really there at the period then they all might had partial info on the subject.

One thing i do understand now after some further reading last night is that KG 40 was spread in many airfields like Brest, Cognac and Bordeaux so that alone can bring a lot of confusion in writers if they were not careful specifying airplane type on 3 or 4 different airfield from the same group.

I am asking a lot of questions but do you know the reason why mainly?

It is simply because when us developers are making an historical sim we have to make sure we don't introduce historically inaccuracy or else we get bash by everyone and our Sim is label as an arcade game!

You have been pointed out the whole bird(s), flocks of birds even, but you choose chase the odd feather. I think your method of doing research is at fault. First build your big picture before go into tiny details. There are lots of good (and also bad) books out there, try also inter-libray loans, if the book you have been pointed to, is not available at your local library. Visiting the Bundesarchiv is also an option, if its close. -Ed

Hi Ed,

My apologies if i said something that you didn't like but i had no bad intentions at all so that why i didn't understand your reaction.

I know the Bundesarchiv but i stop looking after looking for a few hours and if i can find some shortcuts to save some time then i can work on the Sim.

As an example i have a fantastic poster Tommy on the Bismarck forum and so far he is helping us big time in a very professional way.

Regards Hans
