Honington attacked 5th January 1941

Hi,

At around 1336hrs on January 5th RAF Honington was bombed. 8 x 100kg and 2 x 50kg bombs were dropped. Nine hitting the landing field, while one landed near the equipment store. One Czech groundcrew was killed. Does anyone known what this aircraft was, one report suggest a Do215. Any ideas of what type of a/c and unit appreciated.

TIA

Steve

The Luftwaffe didn't employ 100kg bombs - more likely x2 500kg and x8 50kg?

Hi Steve, I have no answer but you should better have posted this thread on the Luftwaffe section of this forum. Maybe an administrator can move it.

Best regards

Do 215s were not used as bombers over UK but Do 17s were. I./KG 3 was active this day, attacking Watton and I believe Honington. Agree this should be on the Luftwaffe Board
