Re: Il-2 losses on 16.12.42, 4 Panczel Imre claims

B. Stenge Csaba, Hungarian AF researcher gives a different victory list for Pánczél Imre:

1-August 6, 1942 (Sov. fighter) Uriv?
2-October 30, 1942 (IL-2) Ostrogozsk-N
3-October 31, 1942 (IL-2) Alekseevka-E
4-October 31, 1942 (IL-2) Alekseevka-E
5-December 16, 1942 (IL-2) Pavlovsk-S
6-December 16, 1942 (IL-2) Pavlovsk-S

On December 16, 1942 the Soviets launched the "Little Saturn" offensive on the front of the 8th Italian Army. In the area the Hungarian fighters downed 4 IL-2s indeed, but only 2 were downed by Pánczél, not 4. The other 2 went down to his wingman, Bánlaky György fhdgy. (1Lt.) The IL-2s probably belonged to 17 VA, 3 SAK.
