2nd Combat Cargo Squadron CBI theatre

Can anyone give me a lead on getting information about the activities of this squadron? Details of the C-47s in the unit are especially of interest. I am aware of the website named '1st Combat Cargo Group, 2nd Combat Cargo Squadron'.
Thanks,
Bruce

Re: 2nd Combat Cargo Squadron CBI theatre

I (briefly) treat the C-47-equipped Combat Cargo squadrons and their aircraft in my Osprey on Gooney Birds in the Pacific/CBI.

Unit histories available on Amazon include THE GREAT SNAFU FLEET (on 1st CCS, sane group as 2nd CCS) and IT ALL STARTED AT IMPHAL. Crashes are listed in THE ALUMINUM HIGHWAY, also available on amazon.

There would be microfilmed group and squadron historical files at the US national Archives (RG 18) and at the USAF HRA at Maxwell AFB. These are narratives, not RAF-style ORBs. The quality varied widely. Do not know how good the 2nd CCS history is. CCG/CCS' histories tended to be less complete than TCG/TCS' because they had a smaller ground echelon and so there was less likely to be someone who could spend time typing things up and submitting them up the chain.

If this is something you would be interested in, send me an e-mail.

Bruce,

Perhaps you can find some info here: http://comcar.org/1st_comcar/1st_Combat_Cargo_Group.htm

There are (also) some personal stories re the 2nd CCS.

Re: 2nd Combat Cargo Squadron CBI theatre

Thanks Leendert, that is the site I should have described better in my original post. It has not been updated for over a decade and my efforts to reach the owners have not been successful. Shame, it has some very useful material.

Regards,
Bruce
