Lt Sam Phillips, Jr - DNB 10 Jan 1945 - USN Helldiver
US Army artillery pilot Lt Sam Phillips, Jr., (O-1184282), was a passenger in a USN Helldiver piloted by Lt (j.g.) Jack G. Acree on 10 January 1945.
Helldiver encountered an engine cut and Phillips was ordered to jump. Acree then parachuted to safety, but Phillips got killed. This all happened over Newport, KY, just across the Ohio River from Cincinnati, OH. Info welcome about BuNo of Helldiver, thanks. Regards, Leendert |
