Re: OBD Memorial VVS losses database.
EVGENY,
It is the first time I ever see such a thing...a Russian ORB! Thanks indeed for sharing this information with others. However, I must NOT be the only one to be curious to know just one thing: We can see there are 16 columns. Although most of us ( me included on this batch ) DO NOT understand Russian, we can have an idea of the meaning: Column 3: Take off time Column 6: Names of pilots Column 7: DATE 25/6/41 - for example HOWEVER, if you are Russian, COULD YOU give us a hand ONLY to understand what are the meanings of the other columns? It would be a START to try to get the information we are looking for: losses and claims, and try to match with LW records. MANY thanks indeed for sharing this. All the best on your researches about SKG 210! Yours Adriano Baumgartner |

Re: OBD Memorial VVS losses database.
EVGENY,
That was very kind of yours to translate the main headlines and tittles. That will help us a lot, since most of the text is hand-written. We can ( most of us ) at least have a good insight of what is being described. I remember when I asked a Brazilian born to translate some letters and Combat missions from former Luftwaffe pilots I had communicate with...the same problem: it was OLD German...and most of people did not understand! I am very glad and thankful towards you...A lot of new information and a new world of perspectives in cross-checking LW claims and losses over the Eastern Front. May you have a nice week Evgeny...and if you ever come to Brazil, please let me know...lot of waterfalls nearby, really lovelly. Yours Adriano Baumgartner |

Re: OBD Memorial VVS losses database.
Adriano,
This base is no good instrument for matching losses to LW records, since it contains mostly irretrievable losses of crews. The info given is not enabling to draw any conclusions. Quote:

Latest I often use the OBD "Memorial". Thanks to this GREAT database and informations from our witnesses we were able to determine the names of soviet airmen and date of kills of soviet planes over Silesia (near Cieszyn), southern Poland, in 1945: one Il-2 Sturmovik from the 996th ShAP, 224th ShAD, 8th ShАK, 8th VA and one A-20 Boston from the 242nd BAP 321st BAD, 8th VA. More (in Russian) in topic "Поиск советских самолетов сбитых в 1945 году над Цешинской Силезей (Южная Польша)" http://forums.airforce.ru/showthread...0547#post50547 So, I have one question for Mr. Evgeny Velichko: when on the "Memorial" will be the next units of 8-я Боздушная Армия BBC СССР (4-й Украинский фронт)??? Is it only 227th ShAD? http://www.obd-memorial.ru/221/Memor...8/00000000.jpg Impatiently waiting for: 224th ShAD, 321st BAD, 10th and 15th GIAD and 100th OKRAP, 8th ORAP... Best regards Grzegorz = Gregory = Григорий (but no Шакашвили :-) |

Re: OBD Memorial VVS losses database.
Did you want a list of the VVS and ADD Aviation Regiments that were in the Operational Army during the war?
I don't have the Aviation Regiments in the PVO nor the Aviation Squadrons or Flights done yet. That might help with the search of the Regiments. Can you also type up the worksheets also (Cyrillic is fine). My written Cyrillic is extremely poor. konev2010 |
