Besatzung "König" and "Vollmer" 2./KG53

Besatzung "König" was shot down by own Flak on 2.1.1943 I don't know under which circumstances. One of the crewmembers was at that time in Halle for recovery in a lazaret. Does someone know the name of this 5th crewmember?

FF - König, Ernst (DKiG 27.10.1942)
BO - Wiczorek, Erwin
BM - Müller, Heinz
BS - Abel, Alfred
BF/BS - ???

This 5th unknown crewmember was in late 1943 part of Besatzung "Vollmer". Does someone have the names of this crew?

FF - Vollmer, Hans???
BO - Gebert, Hans (DKiG 22.07.1943)
BF - ???
BS - ???
BM - ???

Thanks in advance!

Thomas

Hi Matti,

Thanks for your reply!

Found some more info that I overlooked before. He left Besatzung König in Autumn 1942. My guess is then that he was replaced by BF Ofw Siegfried Schütt.

I don't know what he did between Autumn 1942 and at least 22.07.1943

3rd name of Besatzung Vollmer that I found is "Hans Reuther"

Regards, Thomas

Hi guys

Apart from Schutt, were the others killed? What were their respective ranks? And where did this incident occur?

Cheers
Brian

Hi Brian,

To answer your question, yes all others were killed.

König was Leutnant, the others all Unteroffizier.

They were either killed by own flak, or by one of there own delayed detonation bombs. At that time they were flying low level missions to supply the surrounded soldiers at Welikije Luki.

Location: Welikije Luki?

Regards, Thomas
