LtCdr Wayne Robert Cheal USN

XO VF-53 USS Phillippine Sea 1954

Born 8 June 1921. Enlisted in the Navy 10 July 1941. He is listed in 1949 as "AvXR" is that Aviator in the Navy Reserve? Made Lieutenant 1 March 1945. I assume he saw combat in WW2.

Any help gratefully accepted.
