Registration of German civil aviation crashes 1930 - 1933

Hi Gruppe,

I know this is probably a bit off-topic, but I hope someone can give me directions where to locate the following information:

I would like to know if the German civil aviation crashes from 1930 - 1933 are registered and if so where they were registered and if this registration has survived.

I am looking for information of a crash at Berlin-Adlershof airfield in 1932 with one fatality and one injured. It was a civil trainer with two occupants that crashed directly on the airfield after an engine-failure during take-off.

Is there perhaps a book on the history of Berlin-Adlershof?

The crash in question is most likely the one involving Junkers A 50 ci "Junior" D-1986 (W.Nr. 3565) which was owned by DVL at Adlershof but operated by Akaflieg Berlin. Pilot of this flight on May 15, 1932 was the later famous Siegfried Knemeyer, then a student at TH Charlottenburg. His fellow student and Akaflieg member Edmund Münch was killed when the aircraft crashed during take-off due to engine failure. The plane was a total write-off.

What is so interesting on this accident?

Hello Günther,

Thank you for the swift reply.
The incident is interesting for me because I am researching the live of Siegfried Knemeyer. From the family I have heard that Siegfried Knemeyer was involved in a crash in 1932, but didn't have any more information about it.

Thanks for supplying this information. If you know more about this crash, about Siegfried Knemeyer in general or where to look for information, please let me know.

No problem at all, Huib, since I have hinted you on details of that crash I will also gladly provide for a photo from my collection. Just send me your regular e-mail address and you will get scans showing the wreck of D-1986 unspoiled by any protection markings.

Regards,

Günther
