Hurricane P3270

Hi,
Can anyone tell me about Hurricane P3270 ?

I have read that it was presumed lost in France in may of 1940.
But I have also read that it was used in the Middle east after this time.

Two examples delivered. Original design started in 1939, completed 1945. First flown with both cockpits open but delivered with a Tempest hood over rear cockpit. P3270 flown by Reynell at Brooklands as 2-32 on 16th May, 1940, the other A/C was 2-31

Not much to speak of. The last issue of Jane's that features air force listings is the 51-52 edition. This gives the Imperial Iranian Air Force as having:

Fighters: Republic Thunderbolt, Hawker Hurricane
Bombers: Avro Anson
Transport: Douglas Dakota
Liason: Piper L-4
Trainers: DH Tiger Moth, Stearman, North American Harvard, Hawker Hind Trainer, Hawker Hurricane Trainer

Additionally, Putnam's history of Hawkers gives the following details of the Persian/Iranian Hurricanes:

Contract placed in 1939. Only one delivered during the war, in 1940; serial 252 (ex-RAF Mk.I, P3270).

Post war (1946), sixteen ex-RAF machines delivered. All converted Mk.IIC's; guns removed, cannon fairing stubs substituted, Merlin 22's in place of Merlin XX's.

Additionally, one two-seat trainer Hurricane. Serial 2-31 (previously KZ232). Believed to have been delivered with a sliding rear canopy and open front cockpit.

Hello Ross,

Yes thats what I saw about it being an Iranian a/c.

But It has always been reported that the two that were sent in early WW2 were L2079 and P3720.

It is said that only two a/c were delivered.

Even that the delivery of the second a/c is questioned.

I have seen photos of both two seat Iranian Hurricane's that show the side numbers.

KZ232 (2-31) was not delivered until the end of 1948.

As for the second two seater I have not seen a link to any RAF serial elswhere before.

That is why I asked here about any knowledge of P3270's service.
