Major. Horst Adameit's first two Western victories
I'm trying to find some background on Horst Adameit's, I/JG-54, first two Western victories. According to various sources, including Obermaier, he shot down his first kill on Sep. 18,1940 and was shot down after.
The loss is listed by Prien (4/II) as: 1,/JG-54 Fe, Horst Adameit Luftkampf, Absturz in die See Bf-109E-1 (Wrk No.) 6220 The problem is although three pilots of 2./JG-54 claimed three Spitfires (Fw. Friske, Fw. Schunk and Fw. Fuchs) from 1805-1815, there is no victory listing for Fw, Adameit. Similarly, his claim for a Aufklarer Spitfire on October 4,1940 is also not recorded. There were no Recon Spitfires lost on this date. Any thoughts?
