Re: Real Colors of WWII Aircraft

Congratulations. Now, perhaps, maybe it will be possible to find out if a certain RLM color did, in fact, exist.

Hi,
Can you tell me why Japan was left out. Surely it was one of the main players.

Re: Real Colors of WWII Aircraft

Thank you Gentlemen!

Doug, the aircraft book follows the format of the earlier armour book, which also discussed German, U.S., British and Soviet colours. Please be aware that the main customer base of the publisher are modellers (the books are followed by specific paint ranges released together with them), and Japanese subjects unfortunately have quite low position on this market.

Then the book losses a potential market in Japan... and from other modellers around the world with real interest in Japanese aviation.

Re: Real Colors of WWII Aircraft

There is quite a number of Japanese publications on the subject, which are rather more accessible to the locals than books published in English. Regarding other countries - the interest of the market in this subject isn't substantial enough, we can assess this judging by the sales of related products, f.e. paints for Japanese aircraft models.
