RAF/RCAF NAVIGATOR DUTIES
Hi! My wife’s father was a Halifax bomber Navigator 427 Squadron flying out of Leeming.
I am trying to learn more about his pre-flight duties/activities, duties/ activities during the sortie/mission, problems he would encounter, and in general all the things he would typically do before, during and after a mission. Direct comments would be greatly appreciated as well as reference to recommended books/ memoirs regarding the RAF/RCAF bomber navigators. Thanks! |

Re: RAF/RCAF NAVIGATOR DUTIES
Hi,
Although not a Canadian but an Australian, Don Charlwood's book "No Moon Tonight" is an excellent account of the life a Bomber Command Navigator on operations in 1942-3. |

Re: RAF/RCAF NAVIGATOR DUTIES
I posted the navigator pre-flight checks on one of the pages on my website yesterday, if it is of interest. This was extracted from a Heavy Conversion Unit Training Document
