Ju 88 losses, Southern Italy, summer 1943

Would anyone know where to start looking for data on Ju 88 losses in Southern Italy for the summer of 1943? I would like to try match up some Ju 88 losses to claims by Mosquito night fighters.

The period is covered by the Quartermaster General's loss reports which are at the Freiburg Bundesarchiv (on paper) or the Imperial War Museum (on microfilm). There are books which might have some of the information you want but there's nothing yet (AFAIK) that gives the whole picture.

In Southern Italy at that time Luftwaffe aircraft might appear from Italy-based bomber or reconnaissance units, torpedo bombers based in Southern France and bombers and recon in Yugoslavia and Greece.

If prisoners were taken from shot down aircraft, the UK National Archives have the interrogation reports (the odd one is missing) and I think the US Archives will have them too.

Thanks for your post, Nick!
The loss reports you mention only cover Luftwaffe losses, don't they? I imagine many of the Ju 88s that were lost were in fact Italian aircraft, or am I mistaken there?

I didn't consider looking into prisoner interrogations, thanks for the tip! Many were shot down over axis territory or sea, so probably not too useful in this particular instance, but I'll definitely have a look into this.
