L.W.Radio Op. killed over England - Blitz ?
Hello,
Picked up this death card - Georg Huber Unteroffiezier 25yrs old radio operator killed on a active flight against England - 15th September 1940. Maybe during the blitz. I would dearly appreciate any further information. Regards |

Re: L.W.Radio Op. killed over England - Blitz ?
I have no information to confirm any involvement by Spitfires of No.19 Squadron - in fact, I doubt it. And, to the best of my knowledge, HUBER still remains 'missing'.
5./KG2 Dornier Do17Z-3 (2304). Shot down by fighters and crashed in the Channel during sortie to attack Victoria Docks in London 2.55 p.m. FF Uffz Gerhard Böhme killed, BF Uffz Georg Huber, BO Uffz Erich Möbius, and BS Gefr Frans Irg all missing. Aircraft U5+HN 100% write-off. The body of Gerhard Böhme was later washed ashore on the French coast. |

Re: L.W.Radio Op. killed over England - Blitz ?
I suspect that the WNr. reported by the GQM is not correct. 2304 seems to be Do 17 M.
Correct WNr. could be 3204, which is Do 17 Z-3 as stated. Matti |

Re: L.W.Radio Op. killed over England - Blitz ?
Sorry Matti
I Think, that's not correct. WNr. 3204 / NV + BB belonged in 1940 and 1941 to I/Gr.KFS 1 at Hörsching. best wishes JoMe |

Re: L.W.Radio Op. killed over England - Blitz ?
OK. Thanks for info. 3204 was just my guess. I am still suspicious regarding 2304. Can anybody confirm that this is WNr. of Do 17 Z-3 and not Do 17 M? The reported type Do 17 Z-3 seems to be correct, because 5./KG 2 operated this at that time.
