18th Nov. 1944: A "Black Day" for JG 2
Dear Gang,
i am still searching for additionals, corrections etc. concerning a clash between US-fighters and JG 2, happened 18th Novemner 1944. I have recorded the following losses of the German fighters, but they possibly may be incomplete: Lt. Hans Peter Hansen, 9./JG 2, Fw 190 A-9 (Werk-Nr. 750157), Eidengesäß (†) Lt. Helmut Lüdicke, 12./JG 2, Fw 190 A-8 (Werk-Nr. 734004), Fallschirmabsprung im Raum Gelnhausen, DOW Lazarett Bad Orb (†) Ofhr. Otto Diehl, 12./JG 2, Fw 190 A-8 (Werk-Nr. 738229), Huckelheim (†) Uffz. Reinhold Lange, ?/JG 2, Fw 190 A-8 (Werk-Nr. 738219), vicinity Hanau (†) Uffz. Reinhold Kukowka, 12./JG 2, Fw 190 A-8 (Werk-Nr. 737359), Fallschirm nach Ausstieg nicht geöffnet (bailed, but chute did not open) (†) Uffz. Horst Görtz, 10./JG 2, Fw 190 A-8 (Werk-Nr. 750150), Motorstörung/Absturz (crash due engine-failure) near Kröffelbach (†) Uffz. Bernhard Jakob, 12./JG 2, Fw 190 A-9 (Werk-Nr. 980158), Hof Eich (†) As well of interest are US-fighter losses that day, of which i only know of three uncertain P-47s. Thanks for any reply in advance and Cheers Norbert
