He 162 production

As of Oct. 44, the planned monthly output for the He 162 from May 45 on was as follows*:
- EAHG Rostock: 1,000 machines
- EAHG Wien: 1,000 machines
- Junkers Bernburg: 1,000 machines
- Mittelwerke Mittelhausen: 1,000 machines
Leaving aside EHAG Mitte building two-seaters.

However, BMW could not promise more than 1,000 jet engines (BMW 003) in May 1945, increasing their output up to 4,000 engines by May 1946.

This leaves about 36,000 aircraft with no engines for one year or more.

So, what was the plan?

Re: He 162 production

More of a case of not facing reality that late in the war.

An intesting read about the planning by Heinkel of this airplane can be found here: http://www.deutscheluftwaffe.com/arc.../Dokumente.htm

Re: He 162 production

The report can be found in menu "H" - "Heinkel". An interesting insight in late-war underground production and ist concepts, indeed.

Re: He 162 production

The last Production plan I have seen is the RLM Flugzeug-Programm Nr. 227 dated 15. Desember 1944. Up to 30.11.1944 no series production He 162 had been delivered. Outstanding orders at 30.11.1944 were:

He 162A-1 fighters with 2 x MK 108. 5180 aircraft was ordered from JFM for a production run from February 1945 to March 1946. 5397 aircraft was ordered from Kunze with a production run from March 1945 to March 1946.

He 162A-2 fighters with 2 x MG 151. 685 aircraft ordered from EHFW to be delivered from January 1945 to March 1946. 2635 aircraft ordered from EHFR to be delivered from January 1945 to March 1946.

He 162A-3 trainers. 500 ordered from HWO to be delivered from April 1945 to March 1946.

JFM is Junkers, EHFW is probably Heinkel Wien, EHFR is Heinkel Rostock and HWO is Heinkel Oldenburg. I do not know about Kunze.

I do know that there are some production statistics for January, February and March 1945, but I can not reach them at the moment. Perhaps someone else have them on hand.

That is extremely interesting! Why were the aircraft with 20 mm cannon to be produced alongside those with 30 mm cannon armament?

Paul

Re: He 162 production

AFAIK, Kunze was in charge of the Mittelwerk plant at Dora (Nordhausen).
