Unknown Airplane

Can anyone identify? I thought it was a Beaufighter, but the rudder seems wrong.

Re: Unknown Airplane

A Spanish SB2 perhaps. Note tge band on the fuselage and the way that cutout in fuselage goes right down to the wing/body fairing.

Re: Unknown Airplane

Take a look at the wing, I can see the Red Band which looks a little worn or perhaps covered with dust ?

Re: Unknown Airplane

Hello all,
Its a Spanish Republican SB-2. Crash landed at Motril (Granada) on 10th Febr.1937 being the crew Lt.Fedor T. Oproshchenko, Sokolov, Lt.Nikolai V. Arakcheev; all fled unhurt to own lines but the airplane was captured an taken to Tablada Aerodrome, main repair depot for the Nationalist Airforce, where the photo was taken shortly after arrival.
Was repaired by a team commanded by engineer Huarte Mendicoa and used in furtive missions over republican territory with the fuse code 20W-1

Hope this helps
Francisco
